Author, CEO, former Oracle Senior Vice President, feisty priest and pastor. A science, art and nature lover, a folk musician, a potter… and a passionate advocate for mutual care. Full biography at GeorgeKoch.com/biography. The Rev Dr. George Byron Koch (coke) is the author of the newly published Bullies, Parasites and Slaves, a plain-spoken look at the exploitation of many for the benefit of a few, and how it can be undone — rigorous, practical, and hope-filled. A former Senior Vice President at Oracle and CEO of two national companies, he later served as Priest and Pastor of Resurrection Anglican Church (later New Jerusalem), West Chicago, from 1994 until his retirement in 2025, building a congregation known for multi-ethnic mutual care and community support. Before ministry, George founded Koch Systems Corporation, one of the first venture-funded software companies, building an early flagship application on Oracle's database — making his company Oracle's first reseller. In 1989 he authored the bestselling Oracle: The Complete Reference, which sold over a million copies across 22 editions. In 1990 he joined Oracle as Senior Vice President, helping grow its Applications Division from $45 million to a quarter-billion in revenue. In 1994 he left tech to answer a childhood calling into ministry, building long-term aid relationships across Africa, India, Asia and the Middle East around a central theme: mutual care. He has authored several other books, including What We Believe and Why, used in over 70 countries. George and his wife Victoria married in 1979 and have two sons, George August and Isaiah James Koch.
